Eileen Hill, MD
Staff Physician
Hurtado Health Center
Dr. Hill did her undergraduate work right here at Rutgers, where she graduated with high honors from Douglass College. She received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a board certified Family Practitioner, who, prior to coming to Rutgers, had extensive experience supervising and teaching residents as well maintaining a private practice and involvement with the Public Health Service.

Dr. Hill has won the Leon Anson Resident Teacher and the National Health Service Corps Service Awards. She is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Family Practice at the UMDNJ-RWJ Medical School.

While Dr. Hill sees all types of patients at Hurtado, she has a particular interest in working with patients who have asthma, ADD, depression, anxiety and general women's health issues.

While there are many reasons why she has chosen to work at Rutgers, she particularly enjoys interacting with the intelligent, fun student population and believes that the students are at a point in their lives where she can make a significant difference.

On a personal note, Dr. Hill is married with two teenaged daughters.

Cathy Baglieri, RN, MS, APN-C

Cathy joined Rutgers University Health Services-NB/P in September 2005. Prior to joining us, she had worked for four years at Harvard University Health Services.

Cathy obtained her BSN from Villanova University, and her masters from Duke University. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (nursing honor society), the American Nurses Association, and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Womens Health.

Cathy has a special interest in Womens Health, but happily sees students with all general medical problems.

She enjoys working with the diverse, interesting group of students that makes up Rutgers University. She likes to be able to help students make healthier decisions and lifestyle choices.

Edward Lifshitz, MD, FACP

Dr. Lifshitz attended University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate and received his medical training at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He spent 3 years training at Staten Island University Hospital in Internal (adult) Medicine where he also spent one year as chief resident. In addition, Dr. Lifshitz is Board Certified in Internal (adult) Medicine with an area of added qualification in Adolescent Medicine. He is certified in both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is an Elected Fellow to the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine (FACP). He also was awarded the AMA's Physician Recognition Award for 2000-2003.

Dr. Lifshitz has been at Rutgers since 1992.  From 1997-2001 he was director of the Busch-Livingston Health Center, moved across the river to Hurtado for a year, and then returned to the Livingston campus.

In addition to his duties as Director of the Busch-Livingston Health Center, Dr. Lifshitz is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson-University of Medicine and Dentistry Medical School. He teaches medical, physician assistant and pharmacy students at the health center and in the classroom. Dr. Lifshitz is also the chairman of the Rutgers University Health Service Quality Assurance Committee, has published original research and review articles in peer reviewed journals, and is the "Webdoc" for the Ask the Staff website. You may have seen Dr. Lifshitz in the Targum or on RU-TV.

Dr. Lifshitz says "I enjoy working with the educated, young, mostly healthy population at Rutgers University. It is an opportunity to help guide men and women just as they are making crucial health and life decisions (e.g. smoking, alcohol use, risky sexual behaviors). It is also a chance to work with a fascinating and diverse group of people."

Cheryl Brown, RN, MS, APN-C*
Staff Nurse Practitioner

Cheryl obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.  From there she continued her training and received her Masters Degree at Rutgers University-Newark.  She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the national honor society for nursing.

Cheryl has been a nurse practitioner at Rutgers University Health Services since 1990.  In addition, she has also had experience in a community based private practice in both pediatrics and gynecology.  She is also adjunct faculty at Seton Hall University and precepts graduate level nurse practitioner students at the Health Center.

Cheryl enjoys working in College Health because it gives her the opportunity to work with a unique and diverse group of people.  She says: "I love working with the students and helping to educate them about health and their bodies in the hopes of helping them to develop health lifestyle choices."

While Cheryl sees students with all problems, she especially enjoys working in the area of women's health and with the athletes at Rutgers.

Bernice Dillard, MSN, RN, APN-C

Bernice obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from LaSalle University and her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.  At U of P, Bernice focused on Women's Health.

Prior to coming to Rutgers in 1994, Bernice had varied experiences including working in obstetrics, neonatal nursery, and in the prison system.

Bernice was attracted to Rutgers by the diverse and intriguing student population and enjoys the daily interaction.  She particularly enjoys the opportunity to help influence the life long health practices of young adults. 

In addition to her work at Rutgers, Bernice serves on the review team for the New Jersey State Nurses Association, is a member of the National Black Nurses Association, is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (nursing honor society), and routinely precepts nursing students.

At Rutgers, Bernice sees all types of medical problems and concerns.  She has a special interest in women's health and athletics.

Bernice is married with three children (ask her to see pictures).

Walter Hewitt, RN-C, BSN

Walt has been a college health nurse here at Rutgers since 1982. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Gwynedd Mercy College in Springhouse, Pennsylvania. Walt was a medic in the Air Force and a neonatal nurse prior to coming to Rutgers. He became certified in college health nursing with the first group of nurses to become certified in 1991. He has been active and performed research in the college health environment on a variety of subjects. He participated in the initial collegiate research on functional management of ankle injuries for the AirCast Company. He performed research on liquid nitrogen treatment of hand and foot warts. Walt is also one of the principal investigators for the Collegiate Body Art Project. He speaks throughout the country on the subject of body art. He has co-authored several articles on the subject. He thoroughly enjoys working with students in the collegiate health environment.

Genie Mangini, RN, BSN
Staff Nurse
Busch-Livingston Health Center

Genie has been working at Rutgers University since 1989.  At the time she had a career in Emergency Medicine and had planned on Rutgers University being a temporary stop. But, she fell in love with the University and with working with college students and has been here ever since.

Those who have been at Rutgers for a while, may remember Genie from Willets Health Center on Douglass.  She crossed the river in 2001 and hasn't looked back.
