Busch-Livingston Health Center
About Us

The Busch-Livingston Health Center is one of three New Brunswick area health centers - the others are The Hurtado Health Center (College Avenue Campus), and Willets Health Center (Douglass Campus).  We share a parking lot with the RAC on the Livingston Campus.

Rutgers University Health Services includes these New Brunswick area health centers together with the ones located in Camden and Newark.

In an average year, we have about 10,000 student visits to one of our clinicians, and many more who come to use our pharmacy.

We are able to provide comprehensive health care services to a college population. Take a look at just some of what we do:

  • Routine "maintenance"

  • Acute illnesses

  • Asthma attacks

  • Colds, flu, strep throat, mono, and all others

  • Gynecological problems

  • Care of chronic illnesses

    • Asthma

    • Diabetes

    • Acne

  • Injuries

  • Laboratory services

    • Any doctor/NP ordered test may be drawn

  • Pharmacy services

    • Prescriptions filled - often less expensive than outside Rutgers

    • Over the counter medicines, condoms, vitamins

  • Sexual health

    • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) checks and treatment

    • Birth control (contraception)

    • Emergency contraception (the morning after pill)

    • Pregnancy counseling

  • Referral to outside specialists

If you are a registered, full-time Rutgers University student, or if you have paid the health activity fee, then you are eligible to use our facilities free of charge. This means that you have unlimited visits to a health care professional without cost, paperwork, or insurance hassles. Medication is NOT covered by Rutgers insurance (but may be if you have an insurance plan provided by your parents or work). Most testing is covered by Rutgers, but there may be additional charges for some tests or procedures.
