Philip Cohen, MD Staff Physician
Busch-Livingston Health Center
|
Dr. Cohen is a specialist in Internal
(adult) Medicine and Sports Medicine who has been at Rutgers
University since 2000.
Dr. Cohen did his undergraduate work at Yale University where he
graduated with honors. He returned to New Jersey for medical school,
and graduated from UMDNJ-RWJ - again with honors. He then completed
a three year residency in Internal Medicine and headed out west for a
fellowship in Sports Medicine at UCLA. While in Calfornia, he served
as the team physician for baseball and women's soccer and was on the
medical staff of the USA weight lifting team.
At Rutgers University, Dr. Cohen splits his time between the
Busch-Livingston Health Center (where he sees both general medical
problems and injuries) and the Hale Center where he treats Rutgers
athletes.
Dr. Cohen says: "It's a privilege to work in such an exciting
environment as we have here at Rutgers. I greatly enjoy teaching my
patients and students, and I feel that I learn just as much from them as
they do from me."

Karen Ingram, MD, FAAP Staff Physician
Hurtado Health Center
|
Dr. Ingram is a graduate of Marymount College in
Tarrytown, NY, and the former UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School, where
she completed a residency in Pediatrics in 1981. Board-certified in
Pediatrics, she was in private practice, and was listed as one of
"New Jersey’s Top Physicians" in New Jersey Magazine issues of 1993,
1995, and 1998. She joined Rutgers and the Hurtado Health Center in
1998 and served as the interim Medical Director from July 2000 –
December 2001. Dr. Ingram enjoys the daily interaction with
students, and the challenges of providing quality care in pleasant
surroundings. She is married, with two children, and lives in East
Brunswick, NJ. |

Debbie Johnson, MD
Staff Physician
Hurtado Health Center
|
Dr. Johnson is a board-certified Family
Physician with a special interest in reproductive and sexual health
issues. She is a NJ native and Rutgers College Alumni, graduating
Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She then
went on to NJ Medical School in Newark for her medical degree and
completed residency at Somerset Family Practice in Somerville, NJ.
Dr. Johnson is a pro-choice
physician who is actively involved in women’s health issues both in
and out of the office. In addition, she enjoys seeing a
wide-variety of general medical problems and educating students
about their own health. She came to Hurtado in 2007 after many
years of experience working in private practice and at Planned
Parenthood. |

Melodee Lasky, MD
Executive Director

Dr. Lasky came to Hurtado in 2002, after serving as Program Director
of the Family Practice Residency at Somerset Medical Center. She has
served as Director of Health Services at Hurtado, prior to taking
her current position in 2004. Board-certified in Family Practice,
she maintains her clinical practice, seeing students in her office
and in urgent care for a wide variety of medical problems. A native
of Pennsylvania, Dr. Lasky did her undergraduate work at Lycoming
College, studied medicine at Temple University, and currently
resides in Hunterdon County with her husband and two children. In
her free time, she is often found in a gymnasium or at a playing
field, watching her teenagers compete in multiple sports.

William Newrock, MD Staff Physician
Hurtado Health Center
|
Dr. Newrock received his Bachelor of Science degree from Iona
College and a Masters from St. John's University. He received his
medical degree from the University of Genoa, in Genoa, Italy. He did
his internship and residency in family practice at John F. Kennedy
Medical Center in Edison, NJ where he was also Chief Resident. Dr.
Newrock has been associated with Rutgers University since 1989, and
is board-certified in Family Practice.

Ann L. Farrell-Alban, NP Staff Nurse Practitioner
Hurtado Health Center
|
Ann has been at
Hurtado Health Center since 1983, and has great experience as a
school nurse in Hillsborough, NJ. She holds degrees from SUNY
Plattsburgh and SUNY Stony Brook, and specializes in women’s health,
performing most of the coloposcopies done at the health center. Ann
lives in Somerville, and is actively involved in feminist issues. |

Lynn Fryer,
APN-C Staff Nurse Practitioner
Hurtado Health Center
|
Lynn received
a BA in biology from Rutgers College, and a Masters in Public Health
from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School. She worked in the pharmaceutical industry for many
years doing preclinical research in inflammatory diseases. In 1996,
she left her career to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and
a Masters of Science in Nursing from Columbia University. As a
Family Nurse Practitioner, Lynn has worked in women's health,
adolescent health, HIV care, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgendered (LGBT) health. She is also a New Jersey State
Certified Forensic Nurse, able to conduct exams on adult victims of
sexual assault.
Prior to
working at Rutgers University, Lynn worked in college health at
Montclair State University. She enjoys the diversity of the campus
community and is excited to return to the Rutgers community.
Lynn lives
locally and spends her free time with her partner and her school
aged twins. |

Mary C. Krug MSN, APN-C

|
Mary Krug obtained her
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in
Amherst, Massachusetts, and a Masters of Science degree in Nursing
from Seton Hall University. She has previously held board
certification in critical care, emergency nursing, as well as HIV
nursing. She is currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the honor
society for nursing, and has served as adjunct faculty for several
area universities, acting as a preceptor for graduate nursing
students. Mary is most happy when seeing a wide variety of problems,
and enjoys working with Rutgers students. She resides in Monmouth
County with her husband, and has two grown children.

Theresa Lord-Stout, RN, MSN, APN-C

Theresa holds
nursing degrees from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing, Seton
Hall University, and UMDNJ. She has been at Hurtado since 2004, and
is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care Nurse
Practitioner, with extensive clinical experience. She formerly
taught in the Graduate Nursing program at Seton Hall, and was a
nominee for the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Advanced Practice
Nursing. Theresa enjoys spending her free time with her husband and
five children. |

Ann
Maher, MS, APNC, ONC

Ann Maher
comes to Willets Health Center with over 30 years of nursing experience as
a staff nurse, college faculty member, clinical nurse specialist, and nurse
practitioner. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nursing
from Rutgers University and a Certification in Advanced Graduate Study in
Primary Care from Pace University. Since becoming certified as a Family
Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialling Center, Ann has
worked as a nurse practitioner in private practice, at a community health
clinic and a battered women's shelter. She has a particular interest in
musculoskeletal problems and has been certified in orthopaedic nursing by
the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board since 1988. Ann is the author of
numerous book chapters and articles published in professional nursing
journals. She is the first author of Orthopaedic Nursing, the only
comprehensive Orthopaedic reference for nurses, which is currently in its
3rd Edition. She serves as an Editorial Board member of the Online Journal
of Issues in Nursing and writes a column for the Orthopaedic Nursing
Journal. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Forum of
Nurses in Advanced Practice of the NJ State Nurses Association, the
National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses, and a charter member of Alpha
Tau, the Rutgers University chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the national honor
society of Nursing.

Joan Raike, MSN, ANPC Staff Nurse Practitioner

After 40 years of nursing experience, 14 as a nurse
practitioner, Joan joined the Rutgers University Health Services in
2001. She received her BA from Jersey City State College, a masters
degree from Teacher’s College of Columbia University, and her
masters in nursing from Seton Hall University. Joan enjoys health
education, with an emphasis on prevention, in providing care to a
generally healthy and educated population. She has a special
interest in women’s health. She is married with three children, and
three grandchildren. |

Diane Ahmed, BA, RN Staff Nurse

Diane has worked on and off
at the Hurtado Health Center since 1981, and has lived in the New
Brunswick area all of her life. She received her bachelor’s degree
from Douglass College and earned her nursing degree from St. Peter’s
Hospital School of Nursing. Diane has been certified in a number of
areas, including IV placement, HIV counseling and testing, and Basic
Life Support. She enjoys the daily interaction with students in a
college health setting. |

Barbara Lowe, BSN, RN, BC Staff Nurse

Barbara received her
Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Kentucky, and
has an extensive background in rehabilitative medicine. She joined
the Hurtado staff in 1982, and enjoys the focus on preventative
medicine. In 1991, she joined the first group of nurses in the
nation to be certified in college health nursing. Barbara is
certified by the state to provide HIV testing and counseling, and
maintains her basic life support certification. |

Cynthia Stitt-Cameron, ADN, RN-C Staff Nurse

|
Cynthia has had
a well-traveled career. After taking some courses at Rutgers, she
received her nursing degree from Cameron University in Lawton,
Oklahoma. Her career has taken her as far as to Bamberg, Germany
where she worked in an emergency room - and was awarded the American
Red Cross Nurse's Badge for her efforts. Cynthia has worked in
college health since 1986, and in 1991 was one of the first group of
nurses to become certified in college health. She is certified by
the state to do HIV counseling and testing, and maintains her basic
cardiac life support certification. |

Monique Deavereaux Health Technician

Monique is a
graduate of Burr D. Coe Vocational School (East Brunswick), and has
been with Rutgers at Hurtado since 1986. Monique assists the nurses
and physicians at the health center . In her spare time, she enjoys
reading, bowling and watching her two children grow. |

Linda Reynolds, LPN Health Technician

|
Lynda was the
salutatorian and class president of her Middlesex County
Vocational/Technical School of Practical Nursing Program. Prior to
coming to Rutgers University, Lynda had worked in private offices
and at the Raritan Bay Medical Center. One of her main
responsibilities is to work closely with the nurses, nurse
practitioners, and doctors at Hurtado to insure that students are
seen in a timely and high quality manner. Lynda enjoys working at
Hurtado and feels fortunate that she is able to make a difference
with Rutgers University students. Her favorite quote is: "We will
never know how much just a simple smile will do." (Mother Teresa).

Helen Suchocki-Martinez, CMA, RMA, REKG, RPT,
AHI Health Technician
Hurtado Health Center
|
Helen attended college in New Jersey and trained in New York and
New Jersey. At Hurtado, Helen's broad responsibilities include
performing EKGs, pulmonary function and other testing, drawing
blood, and working with the nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors
to insure that student's medical needs are addressed. Helen is also
Lead Medical Instructor at Sandford Brown Institute for over 10 yrs.

Maisha S. Caldwell
Medical Laboratory Services Coordinator
Hurtado Health Center
|
Maisha functions as the liason between Hurtado Health Center’s
providers and Quest Diagnostics, the final destination for all
studies ordered on campus. She works closely with the phlebotomist
to ensure that samples are appropriately drawn, and results achieved
in an expeditious manner. Maisha is a graduate of the University of
Maryland – Eastern Shore, as well at The Medical Training Institute
of NJ. In her spare time, Maisha is a big sports fan and patron of
the arts. She resides in northern NJ with her husband and three
children. |

Rose Bartley
Administrative Assistant
Hurtado Health Center |
Rose is a graduate of Middlesex County College, with a background in
accounting and business, as well as previous careers as an operating
room technician, and medical office manager. Since 2002, Rose has
been responsible for front end management and scheduling, and
ensures that medical priorities are triaged in a timely fashion.
Rose maintains her certification in CPR, and enjoys cooking, arts
and crafts, and boating with her husband and two children.
