Rutgers University Health Centers do not provide emergency care. All patients with a medical emergency (a sudden, life threatening or unexpected sickness or injury) are referred immediately to a local emergency room. When the Health Center is closed, proceed to the nearest hospital emergency room. 

To contact the university police:
- From university phones, obtain an outside line, and then dial 9-1-1. 
- From cellular phones, dial 732-932-7111. 

For emergency mental health assistance, please call Acute Psychiatric Services at 732-235-5700.
For the SAMHSA Suicide Hotline call
, 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

For emergency situations where the use of alcohol or illicit drugs is suspected, students should be sent to a local ER with any available information about what substances may be involved.
