With the supervision and direct support of the Director of the RUHS Department
of Health Education, this student will assume the responsibility of keeping the
lines of communication open within the Department. Consistent with the
department vision of student empowerment, this person will be considered a
student staff member of the Department of Health Education, and thus afforded
the rights, responsibilities, and privileges which accompany such a title.
As the Department of Health Education Internal Communication Specialist, this
student will:
- Communicate regularly with the Webmaster/Systems Administrator to aid in
the evaluation and improvement of internal website function;
- Coordinate the development and continued success of all standing
committees (Awards & Ceremony, Meetings & Trainings, Leadership
Retreat, Student Staff Orientation, Summer Orientation, Web Advisors Group,
and Student Staff Electronic Newsletter);
- Continue to support the system of student staff recognition, including but
not limited to: the initiation and maintenance of a database for student
staff business cards and the manage the production of certificates of
appreciation;
- Initiate and support programs that address department students' concerns;
- Act as a resource to Department of Health Education students;
- Meet with the Director and Student Staff Cabinet once every two weeks.
All applicants must be Rutgers University students with at least three semesters
of experience with the Department of Health Education and the availability to
work 10-15 hours/week. Applicants should possess the ability to work
independently as well as the ability to express themselves in a clear and
concise manner. Experience with e-mail and word processing is required.
