With the supervision and direct support of the Director of the RUHS Department of Health Education, this student will aim to fortify student-staff infrastructure. Consistent with the department vision of student empowerment, this person will be considered a student staff member of the Department of Health Education, and thus afforded the rights, responsibilities, and privileges which accompany such a title.
As the Department of Health Education Student Staff Coordinator, this student will:
- Coordinate biweekly meetings with the Director and other members of the Student Staff Cabinet (although facilitation responsibilities should rotate);
- Provide new student staff with a friendly introduction to the department, its facilities, and technology;
- Assemble student staff to address issues of concern as necessary;
- Direct the production and electronic distribution of the weekly Student Staff Newsletter;
- Develop student representatives;
- Determine the relevance of the job description to the actual duties of each student staff position by meeting with the student staff member(s) and the department staff;
- Revise and rewrite job descriptions to more accurately reflect the duties of the positions as articulated during the meeting.
All applicants must be Rutgers University students with at least three semesters of experience with the Department of Health Education and the availability to work 10-15 hours per week. Applicants should possess the ability to work independently, as well as the ability to express themselves in a clear and concise manner. Experience with e-mail and word processing is encouraged but not required.
