You may come to the Hurtado Health Center Laboratory area Monday–Friday from 8:30am to 3:00pm to have your blood drawn. No appointment is needed.
To get lab tests, you need an order – like a prescription – from a healthcare provider. To submit lab test requests:
- Rutgers Student Health providers will send your lab orders electronically.
- Off-campus healthcare providers can give you a written order.
- You can fax your doctor’s requisition form or prescription with the correct codes and your insurance information directly to the Health Center.
- Or just bring your doctor’s requisition form or prescription with the correct codes and your insurance information when you come for the lab work.
Your healthcare provider should explain how to prepare, if necessary. For example, some tests require you to fast by refraining from eating or drinking for 8 hours prior to the test. If you are unsure or if you have any questions, please call Rutgers Student Health at 848-932-7402.
The Hurtado Lab can only service lab orders from providers who have an account with Quest Diagnostics. The patient’s insurance must also be accepted by Quest Diagnostics.
We cannot service lab orders from an outside health provider if that provider does not have an account with Quest Diagnostics.
