Information for Part-time Students
While registered part-time students (with the exception of distance learning, online only and continuing education students)are eligible to utilize Rutgers Health Services, coverage and payment options will vary based upon insurance. Part-time students do not pay the health fee.
The University strongly encourages all students to maintain adequate health insurance coverage at all times. Degree-seeking part-time students are eligible to enroll in the University-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan. Part-time students enrolled in this Plan may use it to file claims for visits to the Health Centers for medical and psychiatric services.
Coverage and Payment Details for part-time students
University-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan and other accepted health insurance plans:
• Covered for visits to Health Centers as per health insurance plan
• Responsible for co-pays and deductibles
• Lab work (except immunity titers), crutches/ Ace bandages and other durable medical goods needed due to a student accident are also covered
• Crisis, emergency and required visits for counseling are covered
No health insurance:
• Fee-for service option available for services
• Crisis, emergency and required visits for counseling are covered
