Akshay is a clinical psychology doctoral candidate (PsyD) from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He has experience working in residential treatment centers, community mental health centers, hospitals, and university counseling centers. Integrating principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), he emphasizes the use of practical tools to navigate difficult thoughts and emotions more effectively and build self-compassion. Utilizing Relational-Cultural Therapy, his approach involves exploring your relationships and culture, understanding experiences of marginalization/oppression, addressing past disconnections, and developing new patterns of relating to yourself and others. Akshay is a queer, second-generation, Indian American raised in central New Jersey. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies and TV (especially reality shows), hanging out with his cat named Pesto, playing video games, and going for walks.
