Dr. Jennifer Jones-Damis is a licensed Psychologist in NY and NJ and a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ. Dr. Jones-Damis completed a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Traumatic Stress at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC where she administered evidence-based treatment to youth in the juvenile justice system. Dr. Jones-Damis was the Associate Director of Mental Health for the Young Adult (18-21) population at Riker’s Island Correctional Facility. There she spear-headed the mental health aspect of the Alternative to Solitary Confinement Program. She then became the Director of Mental Health for the largest jail in NJ, Essex County Jail. Dr. Jones-Damis facilitates trainings and workshops for Probation/Correction Officers and professionals around the country to spread knowledge about the impact of trauma, racial trauma and mental illness. Her research interests focus on the disproportionality of Black students receiving exclusionary discipline in school systems and issues of the over representation of Black youth in the juvenile justice system. She has presented her research at national conferences and co-authored a chapter on classroom management for the International Handbook of Student Achievement.
